The disruption of traditional sports media with The Players' Tribune
The Players’ Tribune is a new media publication, founded by Derek Jeter, that provides unique insight into the daily sports conversation by publishing stories directly from athletes. Wondersauce partnered with The Players’ Tribune to define the brand – including the logo mark, visual identity, and digital product strategy.
Wondersauce was tasked with creating an editorial platform for The Players’ Tribune that would put their first-person editorial, photo, and video content front and center.
Wondersauce created The Players’ Tribune brand from the ground up and we were intentional in adding transparency to the wordmark to allow for the brand to take on the personality and colors from the content that it is paired up with.
The secondary apostrophe brand mark was a nod to the possessive nature of editorial content and The Players’ Tribune offering a platform for athletes to control their own narrative. The mark was also made to be flexible enough to capture the personalities of the athletes behind the stories.
The diverse system of article templates and wide range of supported media types create for The Players’ Tribune has given athletes a limitless amount of creative freedom to tell and visualize their stories.
The modular design of The Players’ Tribune template system has allowed content editors to curate and customize daily feeds of contextual content based on relevancy and demand.
The Players’ Tribune sticks to their “The Voice of the Game” mantra by offering professional and collegiate athletes a platform to control their own narrative, regardless of the topic.
